Jeff and myself went down to Naples, Fl. today to visit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. They specifically told Chuck, our Press Secretary, "No Cameras". We're pretty sure that they may have some sort of vague idea what the campaign is about and that we constantly have a camera on, though perhaps they didn't fully understand why...so we brought the camera along. We planned to explain what the filming was all about and perhaps maybe they'd let us shoot. If not, then perhaps we could set up a date where we could come back get a tour, talk about what issues are their priorities, and at that time shoot. The woman we spoke with, Nicole Ryan, who is the Conservancy's, "Government relations", person. She seemed very interested and even more interested that we genuinely wanted to help protect the environment and that we had anticipations to work with them again, and even more so if elected.
So, I pretty much kept Jeff company! That is alright we really didn't expect to do any shooting today anyways. We had a chance to have a nice discussion with these folks about several of the issues, and soon we will be getting a hold of their media person who will give us the clearance to come back and shoot. The big issue with shooting, is that in order for non-profit organizations like this one to maintain that status, one thing that they really cannot do is endorse as a group a candidate running for political office.....and we appreciate and understand that stance, however...we are video taping everything for other reasons. ::cough:: Coconut Road ::cough::
If you're familiar with our campaign than you're probably already aware of a few out our, "buzz words"; TRANSPARENCY, INTEGRITY, & ACCOUNTABILITY. One of the missions of this campaign is to make government more accessible to the everyday citizen, and in doing so we are using as much of the wonderful technology that is available to us. Thus, we have lifecasting via Ustream.tv or perhaps you've seen us on Justin.tv in the past; Jeff is actually life casting, see future congressmen in their natural environment! Anytime Jeff goes to an event, such as a "debate", or a "luncheon" or even a public groups meetings such as the city council or the NAACP, I go with him and I film. We post the RAW footage on google video and the edited clips on youtube.com. We not only want the citizens of this country, as well as those in this district, to see the process, but also to feel that they are more of a part of it. Jeff chats on his webcam pretty frequently, he has no problem talking to anyone about anything. We want to get back to a time where you can trust your government, because you are actually a part of it. The government and all of these seat holders are there just for you!
We are looking forward to meeting up with the people from the conservancy soon.
That's all for now.
I gott go
